Welcome to AnEcoScape!
AnEcoScape is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization. Our mission is to educate, improve, and restore the health, productivity, and diversity of the near shore marine life and nearby terrestrial areas, which are rapidly degrading from human activities.
Artificial Reefs
Our planet’s reefs are facing a catastrophic, climate-driven decline. Driven by rising ocean temperatures, pollution, and increased acidity in our oceans. This threatens marine biodiversity and coastal livelihoods since reefs support about 25% of all marine life. An immediate solution to this problem is to build Artificial reefs placed in salt or freshwater environments to mimic natural reefs. These structures are designed to provide habitats for marine life and support by creating a three-dimensional underwater structure.
AnEcoScape is actively encouraging the rapid building and deployment of structures in Santa Monica Bay. We will achieve this through educational and applied research and construction programs. Read More …
Other Involvements
AnEcoScape’s founder, Ben Hamilton and AnEcoScape organization is involved with and supports The Vantuna Research Group, a non-profit educational program of Oxidental College. This program is dedicated to study large spatial scale ecological processes and their research program features the longest continual time series studies of rocky reefs in the world. The Vantuna Research Group is working with the Palos Verdes Reef Restoration Project to restore rocky-reef habitats and surroudng marine species on the Palos Verdes Shelf.
